AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): Narendra Modi led Central Govt continues to boost connectivity across Northeast. With another historical mark, Agartala-Deoghar Express has been flagged off on Friday at 2.32 pm by Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain in the presence of BJP State Observer Sunil Deodhar, Chief Minister Biplab Deb, Transport Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MP Jharna Das Baidya, MP Shankar Prasad Datta, Chief Secretary Sanjeev Ranjan and other MLAs and dignitaries attended the programme. Huge numbers of devotees, passengers and locals gathered at Agartala Railway Station to witness the first ever journey of the express train. The express train will be functioned as weekly and it will start regular functioning from July 14 after the official inauguration today.Agartala-Deoghar express will cover 1,473 km in 39 hours which has started its maiden journey with 14 bogies. The train has been started primarily as a part of religious-tourism relation between Tripura and Deoghar.
Addressing on the occasion Minister Rajen Gohain said, “Modi Govt has taken all necessary initiatives for Northeast development. Almost all the states in Northeast are now connected with Raillines.
PM Modi had determined to develop Northeast. Today we have broad gauge in almost all the Northeastern states. Tripura is undergoing tremendous changes, development due to Railway expansion and I can see that".
The train was one of BJP's pre-election assurances to assist thousands of devotees of Anukul Thakur to visit their holy place at Deoghar. Deoghar is a holy city beside the Mayurakshi River, in the east Indian state of Jharkhand.
