Ad-hoc tenures of terminated 10323 teachers ends Today : Teachers’ jobs safe till next hearing on July 4 at SC

AGARTALA, June 30 (TIWN): According Supreme Court’s verdict given on December 14, 2017 the ad hoc total-termination of Tripura’s terminated 10323 teachers has been ended today. Keeping today’s terminated in front, the BJP Govt recently again appealed in the Supreme Court for further extension of their jobs for next 2 years on ad-hoc basis. SC neither extended, not terminated the ad-hoc job doers on its last verdict and on June 4, in a hearing SC postponed the final verdict till July 1st week along with holding the termination till the next verdict. However, the next hearing of 10323 teachers is on July 4, Law Secretary Datamohon Jamatia has confirmed today.State Govt appealed at the Supreme Court to extend the teachers jobs till 2020, June 30.

However, the Court under Justice PK Pasricha mentioned, “The list on the matter on 2nd July (Monday) but time has been granted by the Court in terms of order dated 14th December, 2017”. 

But the hearing date has been postponed two days more and it will be on July 4.

The 10323 teachers who were terminated with Supreme Court’s final verdict have lost their jobs today as after 31st December their jobs were increased on ad-hoc basis for more 6 months and now tension have gripped the terminated teachers as on June 4 their fate may change forever.

10,323 teachers' jobs were first cancelled by Tripura High Court in 2014 on May 7 after spotting irregularities in the recruitment process, before the issue was taken to Supreme Court by the the CPI-M Govt. 

A division bench of the high court, comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Swapan Chandra Das, had passed then order May 7, 2014 terminating the jobs of 10,323 school teachers after Dec 31, citing irregularities in recruitment and SC has upheld High Court's 2014 verdict.

On March 29, 2017, the Supreme Court also held High Court's order and terminated the teachers. Supreme Court in a humanaitarian gesture to 10323 teachers mentioned that the teachers will continue their jobs till 2017, 31st Dec.

Later with the request of Tripura Govt, the Supreme Court added 6 months of ad hoc basis jobs for the teachers which will be end on June 30, 2018.
