Kailashahar : Massive Road Blockade at Jagantpur for pending demands

Kailashahar,10 Sept (TIWN): Hundreds of Villagers of Balehar under Bilashapur Panchayet ,Kumarghat RD block, led by Ranjan Sinha, Local BJP leader staged a road blockade at Jagannatpur , under Kailashahar police station at 9 Am to 12 pm. in demands of four points of charter of demands. Frustrated over the prolonged lackadaisical attitudes of the concerned authorities towards the meeting the basic needs such drinking water and provision for electricity of villagers residing at Balehar were forced villagers to take the street here today.

Out of four demands , one of the most burning demand was  to  take immediate fruitful preventive  steps   against    continuous erosion of Manu river bank which is flowing at the low lying areas under Kumarghat and Kailshahar subdivision. Continuous erosion of Manu river bank at Balehar made  15 families homeless.   Jayanta dey ,SDM of Kumarghat Subdivision rushed to the spot at around 12 pm and  had a discussion with leaders of BJP along with villagers. Jayanta Dey SDM said that he would take  the matter to notice of DM & Collector Of Unakoti district and would try to take  steps to meet the demands as early as possible.  Further he informed the agitators that DM & collector of Unakoti district would  take a stock over the problems faced by the villagers and he also assured that a compensation an amount of Rs 15 000/ would be given  to the victims of erosion of  Manu river Bank. On  the basis of assurance of SDM ,the agitators lifted the road blockade. Jogesh Das ,whose house washed aye due to erosion of river bank said that two years back , Unakoti district administration sanctioned around 86 lakh  for the construction of  protective layer made of cement block  along the river  but unfortunately  the concerned agency who took the responsibility  to construct Cement Block at the bank of river could not complete the work . The villagers alleged that an amount of 45 lakh was siphoned by the concerned contractors leaving  the work half done . In the meantime villagers also  gave an ultimatum if the  demands are not met immediately ,they would launch a massive agitation.
