AGARTALA, June 16 (TIWN): In a much needed step towards modernizing Police machinery, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has flagged off mobile vans of Tripura police on Saturday at Police Headquarter which will monitor from various corners of the state. The mobile vans will be connected via GPS system soon and to be controlled by police stations directly. DGP A K Sukla mentioned, through GPS system control rooms will get live updates of the vehicles movements. Addressing media, Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, “Digitalization is a form of development and without Digitalization a transparent govt is never possible. Till day by dialing number 100 it was tough to get police’s immediate help. Since last 30 years, the 100 number was just as myth as actions were hardly taken”. “I would not hit anybody today on this occasion, but can assure about the total functioning of police force through mobile van and whenever a person is in risk and will call number 100, s/he will be immediately rescued by police”, CM added. Chief Minister further said, “When police will be called, the communication will be totally between police and the victim. No middle man or politically mobilized person should come in between”.

Expressing concerns about women’s safety, CM said, “Unless and until women can not move freely at anytime, till day a society can't be called as developed. In earlier times, people used to sleep in open air and nothing happened to them. Our Govt is determined to make such a model state within next 3 years”.

CM further referring about the importance of women’s safety added, “Under PM Modi’s Sab-Ka-Sath, Sab-Ka-Bikas policy also the importance of women empowerment has been laid. Women empowerment is a part of a developed society”.

CM also appreciated Tripura police for their continuous drives against anti-social elements.
