Deadly Flooding causes massive crop damage, Farmers seek BJP Govt’s help : State Govt to measure losses, Army, BSF, NDRF working 24X7; CPI-M, Congress avoids relief work

AGARTALA, June 16 (TIWN): Biplab Deb led BJP Govt’s strong measures yet to bring relief operations under control even though new Govt trying their best. Education Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said that all the Districts have been affected due to flood and facing agricultural losses. Govt’s full support has been assured, whereas right now state govt is mainly focusing in the relief and rescue operations. Following the incessant rain of past few days added by floods, waterlogging total damages of crops were recorded from various parts of the state. However the amount of the loss yet to be measured on govt side. Vegetable prices are already reached on peak in the pre-monsoon as rain damaged cultivated lands of the state farmers.Not only Unakoti and North District but all the Districts are hit the deadly flood.

This is not the first  flood of this year, but farmers are facing continuous losses since the very beginning of pre-monsoon. Devastated farmers have demanded proper compensations and govt’s help.

During the last couple of days rains have damaged also the production of vital vegetables with the farmers keeps hand-head across the rural areas of the state like, Sonamura, Kamalpur, Killa, Manu, Julaibari, Melagarh, Khowai, Charilam, Dharmanagar,Belonia,Hrishyamukh including others.  The vital production like tomatoes, potatoes, watermelon cultivation and others have been damaged at large due to the pre-monsoon rain and thunder storm.

The crops in vegetative state and those that were harvested and kept outside faced the brunt of unexpected and untimely rainfall in the mentioned parts. Potato farmers in the remote locations are having a harrowing time as unseasonal rains created havoc on standing crops. The situation has become grim as there witnessed a hefty loss for the farmers.

On the other side, vegetable prices are hitting the consumers with high prices of the vegetable items. In last three days, at double rates the vegetables were found on sale.

Throughout the month rains and thunderstorms to be continued, said weather forecast.
