Nipah virus rumour hits Northeast Tripura, fruit businessmen facing massive losses

AGARTALA, June 10 (TIWN): Nipah virus rumours have led mass tension among the fruit consumers leading massive losses to the fruit sellers of Agartala.

80 % fruit business in Tripura have been downed after the Nipah virus rumours spread in the state.

The businessmen have sought state govt's help into the matter, so that people start buying fruits again.

On Saturday, Gol Bazar businessmen ate fruits in front of media to make all believe that 'No Nipah virus' is existing in Tripura, consumed various kinds of fruits.

Nipah virus (NiV) infection is a newly emerging zoonosis that causes severe disease in both animals and humans. The natural host of the virus are fruit bats of the Pteropodidae Family. Recently it was found in Kerala and out of that fear nobody is buying fruits in Tripura leading massive losses to the fruit businessmen.

The profit margin has been totally downed due to the virus threat among people.

Recently another rumour like plastic wheat also hit the ration-shop businessmen in this state. Even news was reported regarding 'Plastic Wheat' as the Govt was totally silent over the issue.
