AGARTALA / UDAIPUR, June 4 (TIWN): Food safety is under threat in Northeast state Tripura as after wheat, now salts have been spotted mixed with poisonous items like detergents.The poisonous salt was found in Udaipur Subdivision, under Gomati District after Khilpara residents bought salts from a local ration shop.

After eating that salt the whole area’s villagers became sick, but from where the disease was coming nobody could understand.
When a woman today was making ‘sarbat’ then foams were coming out of the glass.
Locals alleged that bad smells were also coming out of that salt and when checked everyone’s stored salts (brought from ration shop) at home were found poisonous.
Bubbles were forming heavily when that salts were mixed with water.
Local subdivisional authority rushed to the spot and inspected the matter. They villagers were asked to return the salt at ration shop.
However, whether any investigation will done or not, nothing has been said yet by the authority.
