AGARTALA, June 4 (TIWN): With a disappointing note, at least 95 % SSA teachers have failed in the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) examination and many more have shown as absent ! Tensions have gripped the contractual SSA teachers as MHRD had directed to complete the all necessary qualifications of all teachers across the country within March 31st, 2018. Following the unexpected scores in the exams, the teachers have written a letter to the SSA Director. Around 2500 of SSA had appeared for the test under NIOS from Tripura. The result was recently webcasted but it has been found that despite having appeared in the subjects need, requiring improvements, status and results of the maximum contract teachers have been either shown as ‘absent’ or ‘failed’.

In a letter to the SSA Director, SSA teachers said, “As you are aware that as per MHRD, Govt of India guidelines, all elementary teachers are required to process / acquire the requisite marks at the Secondary level exam along with D.EI.Ed qualification through NIOS by 31st March, 2019, the aforesaid discrepancies observed in the results have created astonishment and  disappointments among the contract teachers of SSA”.

“The matter of requisite qualifications within the framed timeline being extremely necessary for securing our jobs and ultimately our livelihood, it is hereby beseeched at your kind self to view this matter from humanitarian perspective and ensure a solution”, the SSA teachers told SSA Director.

It can be noted here that under Monmohon Singh as the PM the 2009's RTE Act rules were adapted saying all the teachers must have necessary qualifications with 50 % marks in Class-12 and DEIED degree for all primary / upper primary teachers by 2015. With the deadline had ended in 2015, the BJP led Central Govt has once again given relaxation for more 2 years after a bill was unanimously passed on Aug 1. Tripura Govt had received a letter on Aug-3 regarding this. But with a strange motive state govt hided the notification.
