TIWN June 4, 2018

AGARTALA, July 4 (TIWN): When petrol price are hitting the consumers heavily, Congress has demanded to decrease the (value added tax) VAT at Rs. 15 %. Talking to TIWN, hitting the Modi Govt on petrol price, Tripura Congress leader Gopal Roy suggested BJP led state govt in Tripura to decrease at least 15 % VAT on petrol. “Right now, 20 % VAT is imposed on petrol and 13.5 % VAT has been imposed upon diesel. So, according to Tripura’s price rate, if 15 % VAT is decreased then only 5 % VAT will stay and 15 rupees will be downed at petrol price. Then in case of diesel, if 15 % is decreased then only 3.5 % VAT will exist. If Govt takes this action for the welfare of common men it will stable the fuel price, then 15 rupees will be reduced in petrol price. In the same manner diesel will be downed at 10 rupees and it will be limited within 60 rupees and petrol price will also down below 70 %â€, said Gopal Roy.
“Fuel prices are on hike and also recently the cooking gas prices were spiked up. In our time the subsidy was 417 which is now Rs. 493. Recently 48 rupees have been increased by the Modi Govt on cooking gas", Roy added.
Today in Agartala petrol price is Rs. 73.85, whereas on yesterday it was Rs. 73.94.
At the capital city Delhi also, fuel price cut continued for the sixth consecutive day on Monday with the Indian Oil Corporation reducing petrol prices by 15 paise per litre and diesel by 14 paise per litre in New Delhi and Mumbai.
Petrol in Delhi now costs Rs 77.96 a litre, down from Rs 78.11, according to a price notification issued by state-owned oil firms. Diesel costs Rs 68.97 a litre in the national capital.
IOC since May 30 has cut petrol prices by 46 paise and diesel prices by 33 paise in New Delhi, while similar price reductions were implemented in other cities across the country.
