AGARTALA, June 1 (TIWN): As no solution in sight so as a last option, Tripura Govt is going to appeal the Supreme Court to extend jobs of 10323 teachers upto , June 30,2020. State Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath mentioned that, BJP is bearing all the wrong-deeds done by the Manik Sarkar's CPI-M Govt. However, with BJP Govt is trying to save 10323 teachers career, resentments have been expressed by a section of BJP supporters and unemployed youths as 10323 teachers had always considered as CPI-M's beneficiaries. In clarification, the Law Minister mentioned that Tripura schools are undergoing heavy teachers crisis. Already 12,222 teachers posts are vacant leading massive ‘teachers crisis’ across the schools, whereas above 7 lakhs students are studying in state’s schools.

Observing the teachers crisis situation, state govt is going to knock the Supreme Court, so that teachers crisis are not felt.

Ratan Lal Nath said, “As you know on 30th June 2018, Supreme Court led terminated 10323 teachers' jobs tenure will be ended on ad hoc basis, thus the State Govt in today's cabinet meeting has decided to appeal the Supreme Court to give more relaxation for the teachers so that they can continue their jobs at least till 2020”. Also Ratan Lal Nath announced that an Assembly Session to begin from June 19 and a committee will be formed in this regard. Even though Ratan Lal Nath didn't mention anything but basically 'teachers crisis' issue will be told the Supreme Court by state govt behind the 'extension demand'.

Recently both CPI-M and Congress came with sharp attacks against the BJP Govt issuing 10323 teachers issue alleging BJP before coming in power had assured 10323 teachers that once BJP is in power it will save 10323 teachers lives.

The 10323 teachers had lost job on March 29, 2017 in a verdict of SC after spotting irregularities in their job appointments. SC said, December 31st, 2018 will be the last date of job career for those posts. However later on ad hoc basis the job tenure was increased for more 6 months but it will also be ended on June 30th, 2018.

Reacting over BJP’s silence Congress leader Gopal Roy said, "Before the Election, the BJP had promised to save 10323 teachers lives. But we can see that after the Election was ended, the BJP Govt has moved 90 degree from their promises. In the Vision Document in page-4 BJP clearly said that they will save 10323 teachers jobs, once they are in power. The govt must take immediate action to save teachers lives as their jobs will be terminated after June 31st".

CPI-M also attacked the BJP led state Govt with the same issue.

The 10323 teachers who were terminated with Supreme Court’s final verdict are going to lose their jobs after 30th June 2018 as after 31st December their jobs were increased on ad-hoc basis for more 6 months but that tenure also is going to end on June 30th. 10,323 teachers' jobs were first cancelled by Tripura High Court in 2014 on May 7 after spotting irregularities in the recruitment process, before the issue was taken to Supreme Court by the the CPI-M Govt.

A division bench of the high court, comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Swapan Chandra Das, had passed then order May 7, 2014 terminating the jobs of 10,323 school teachers after Dec 31, citing irregularities in recruitment and SC has upheld High Court's 2014 verdict.

However, High Court asked the Tripura Govt to save 10323 teachers jobs, by appointing the deprived youths who filed cases against the irregularities in recruitment of 10323 teachers by the then Tripura Govt, but on that time Tripura Govt didn't appoint the deprived 59 youths and challenged the High Court verdict in the Supreme Court.

On March 29, 2017, the Supreme Court also held High Court's order and terminated the teachers. Supreme Court in a humanaitarian gesture to 10323 teachers mentioned that the teachers will continue their jobs till 2017, 31st Dec.

Later with the request of Tripura Govt, the Supreme Court added 6 months of ad hoc basis jobs for the teachers which will be end on June 30, 2018. Supreme Court issued 6th month's contract jobs for the teachers as Tripura Govt told Supreme Court, if teachers are terminated schools will be suffering from teachers crisis in the mid-session.
