AGARTALA, September 6 (TIWN): Tripura is witnessing another major scam. This time it outbreaks in Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) under Education Department. Government of Tripura has already filed a FIR against the cashier of RMSA. However police could not arrest him. Joint Director of School Education and Additional State Mission Director, (ASMD) RMSA, Manabendra Chakraborty lodged a FIR (File no-F.18(2)-DSE/CELL 156/2014) against the cashier Arnab Chakraborty on Friday night at around 8p.m at West Agartala police station.
Cashier is accused of making forgery of the sign of ASMD. He is also charged of issuing an appropriation letter demanding authority of receiving all the cheques and payments from RMSA. The authority of Tripura State Co-operative Bank suspected something wrong with the case and accordingly they contacted the Director. In order to show the evidence, the bank officials produced a copy of bearer cheque in the name of Arnab Chakraborty bearing No.01756 against which Rs 11 lakhs 72 thousand was drawn by him on 3rd September 2014.
On preliminary enquiry of office records, it appears that the signature of the ASMD and the Deputy Director (DDO) was forged, which was made by him intentionally for the purpose of misappropriation of the Government money.
The said document used as genuine, knowingly was a forged document,” mentioned the Joint Director in FIR. The said cheque and letter have already been forwarded to the police officials. Further documents shall also be submitted later. In FIR, Joint Director clearly mentioned that “Being a clerk of our organization, Sri Arnab Chakraborty committed criminal breach of trust for misappropriation of Government fund for the purpose of wrongful gains”.
Major Top official sources said if police investigates the matter properly, then many scams of this kind in Education Department might come out.
However police is not yet able to arrest the accused cashier Arnab Chakraborty who allegedly got Political blessings from Melarmath.
