AGARTALA, September 5 (TIWN): TSECL empanelled contractors have been fuming over the role of DGM of TSECL Division –II Bimal Ghatak for awarding a contract to a prominent contractor flouting basic guideline at Dharmanagar.

Sources said, the DGM has issued one work order (DGM/ED/-II/DNR/14-15/040) to Bimal Nath, a prominent contractor of the subdivision on August 30 without giving any notice to the media.

To keep other contractors unaware about Rs. 6,68,438 work, the DGM did not even put the short notice inviting tender on the office’s notice board. As the matter came to the notice of other contractors, they put pressure on the DGM why he did not inform concerned contractors.

Sensing impending trouble, the DGM put the tender amounting to Rs. 6,68,438 on the office’s notice board on September 2 while the last date for submission of tender has got expired on August 30.

According to guideline the head of office should invite tender from interested parties for executing any government work by way of advertising media. Besides, a copy of the tender should be pasted on the office’s notice board for general information. However, the DGM did not obey the government guideline to pave the way for Bimal Nath to get the work.

“We want the authority to investigate the matter how the contract is being given to Bimal Nath while others remained unaware about the Rs. 6,68,438 work. If impartial probe is carried out, the DGM will be in trouble,” said an agitated contractor on condition of anonymity. He also threatened to file case against the DGM if the TSECL authority doesn’t take any action against even after instance of irregularity.
