AGARTALA, May 16 (TIWN): Petrol price continues to rise in the state along with the country and on Wednesday it was recorded Rs. 70.93 here in Tripura.
At New Delhi the petrol price has crossed even Rs. 75 today.
In Agartala everyday the petrol price is hiking as on May 13 the price was Rs. 70.41, on May 14 it was again up at Rs. 70.64. On yesterday it was Rs. 70.79 whereas today the petrol price is Rs. 70.93.
The consumers alleged, before one year the price was only Rs. 45 which sometimes went to Rs. 48 but in one year, extreme hikes have become a matter of concern.
Issuing the price hike, opposition CPI-M has protested here in Tripura on May-8, alleging 'Hike in fuel means hike of each commodity'.
This spiral in prices of transport fuels comes amid continuous gains in crude oil prices globally. The brent crude oil is currently priced around $78 per barrel.
