AGARTALA, May 12 (TIWN): Biplab Deb’s Govt slowly turning a dead trap for many hapless people including pensioners. In a latest shock, for verification it was decided that the social pensions, allowances will not be provided to anybody in state Tripura for a certain time.

The matter was disclosed, after BJP leader Pratima Bhowmik was asked by media regarding the delay of those pensions, as opposition CPI-M and Congress are protesting against govt's this particular move. 

Replying media queries, Pratima Bhowmik said, “We have requested the state govt to clear the pensions within June month. But re-verification is very important. It has been found that a 40 years person are getting oldage allowances and also allowances are sanctioing in dead persons names. Following the 25 years of corruption led by CPI-M”.

On the other side, both Congress and CPI-M have raised question, what is the necessity of suspend everyone’s pensions ? What is link between verification and pension suspension ?

Congress President Birjit Sinha said on Friday, “On 24th March, 2018 a decision was taken by the Govt of Tripura to suspend the allowances of 4.5 lakh of people. Govt may do investigation and do inquiry to find out loopholes of the beneficiaries list, but that everyone's pension can't be stopped”.

“Investigation may run but the undemocratic, inhuman decisions should be cancelled immediately”, he said.

“It’s a dangerous issue that 4.5 lakh poor people’s social pensions have been suspended. They need to buy medicines with that little amount of money. This is nothing but to snatch the foods from the poor and old people”, Sinha said.

CPI-M MP Jitendra Chowdhury said, “Such a cruel move by a govt is “Unthinkable”.
