Sabroom Sept 4 (TIWN): For Functional Srinagar border haat in Sabroom sub-division along Indo-Bangla international border at Tripura, a vital meeting was held at Chagalniya under Feni Destrict Bangladesh Panchayat, here on Thrusday at 10 AM. To boost the bilateral trade between India and Bangladesh, the foundation stone was laid for this border haat few months back.During the meeting, several decisions were taken in connection with the border haat.

 Construction of concrete and cement medaling for border haat road already completed. Approach road of border haat for construction of brick soling road is already done by the BDO, Poangbari RD block which near about 900 meters and Public Works Department (PWD) is already constructed medalling and carpeting of Haat road at Srinagar. List of the vendors are also selected by the Border Haat Committee both India and Bangladesh.

List of articles/commodities and restriction for items already enlisted for both India and Bangladesh traders today.The entire construction work of border haat is implemented by the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC).

The haat is situated at the zero line of the international border at Srinagar with one part on the Indian side and the other in Bangladesh. 

According an official source, no local taxes would be imposed upon the items to be sold in the haat and currencies of both countries would be in use. Initially 16 items were short listed which include agricultural and horticultural crops, spices, minor forest products excluding timber, fish and dry fish, dairy and poultry products, cottage industry items, wooden furniture, hand-loom and handicraft items, the source added. Residents of that area have demanded for selling and purchasing of dry fish in the border haat from both sides.Moreover security issue was also discuss along with identity card issue. A unique cultural program was staged after lunch which attracted Indian delegation most.

The Director ,Department of Industries and Commerce , Government of Tripura Pravin L. Agarwal , Addl District Magistrate South Tripura R.K .Noatia , BDO of Poangbari RD block- Manik Lal Das including Border Haat management Committee from India side and ADM Feni : Chagal Naiya Upzilla Chirman and many other high officials attended the meeting.
