AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): Unbearable power-cut problems have left the lives here miserable in Tripura. The capital City Agartala at the same time is reeling under such unbearable conditions leading mass suffeirngs. The prominent areas of the city are suffering from long power cuts, dark roads for long days and constant power ups and down.Access of power to each-village is unable to satisfy the customers in exchange of frequent power cut, long load-shedding, low voltage. Even there is no respite from power-disruptions in the capital city Agartala and in the last one month various long power cuts were reported from many corners of the state.

One citizen said, “I live at Bidur Karta Chowmohani Agartala. The power situation has become completely unbearable in our locality since one month. A few nights ago, after the evening storm, whole night we had to suffer from low-voltage. The situation was rectified next morning at around 9 am. When we called the power office(Banamalipur), we were unable to reach them, ( they are keeping the receiver in the pulled-up position.)

“Last two days, in the road from Bidurkarta Chowmohani to Colonel Chowmohani , all the street lights had turned off. There is total darkness in the road”, he said.

“And during the day time, power-cuts of at least 30 minutes duration for 3/4 times have become the norm. Many people across Agartala had uninstalled their home-inverters during last few years. But now they are thinking about getting them reinstalled”, he said.

In rural and ADC, the sufferings of people have no end. When state Tripura is suffering from frequent power disruptions and long power cuts, Union Minister for Power and Renewable energy , R.K.Singh has asked Tripura Govt to make sure, there should be no power disruption once the connectivity is reached each house.

“People should know Tripura for this particular reason that there is a state which has provided quality with excellent works done by power corporation. Power disruption should be due to particular reason, but facilitating the state with day-night power connectivity needs to be ensured”, the Minister said.

The whole power connectivity system needs a new shape as lose connectivity and improper works since decades is responsible for frequent power disruptions.

In the last month, public’s highest sufferings were from the power facility, whereas the Central Minister R K Singh yesterday clearly said, “There should not be a power disruption”.

The Minister also said, there will be no shortage of central funds for states’ developments but states should focus on fulfill the target.

Right now, power facilities are in worst shape fueld by frequent power cuts and load-sheddings.
