AGARTALA, April 30 (TIWN): Chief Minister Biplab Deb has been adamant with his remark advising civil engineers to join Civil service as they can help in building construction. Reacting over the controversy after he said, ‘Mechanical engineers should not join civil service but civil engineers should join’, Biplab Deb on Sunday evening mentioned, “I will not repeat a comment on mechanical engineers, but ofcourse civil engineers can help the govt with their building construction knowledge. Earlier only Arts students joined civil service but now engineers and doctors are joining in civil services which is undoubtedly helping the administration in various means. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb's career advice to mechanical engineers 'not to join Civil Service', claiming 'Civil Engineers should join Civil Service', had sparked another fresh controversy across national media. The Chief Minister said mechanical engineers should not join the civil services, only those from civil engineering stream should. as "those in administration need to build a society and civil engineers have that knowledge and can help the government in building constructions".

On the other side, people living outside Tripura, especially youths are frustrated with the new Chief Minister's controversial remarks coming one after one which is helping Tripura to occupy National media headlines everyday but for wrong reasons, under the direction of the Chief Minister himself.

Biplab Deb on Friday while addressing at Civil Service Day-2018, said that Doctors and Engineers can function in better way in Civil Service as they have extra skills.

CM was addressing at Pragna Bhawan on the occasion of Civil Service Day-2018 on Friday.

Describing the importance of being ‘all-rounder’ Biplab Deb said, “If a civil Engineer becomes IAS, s/he can add additional instruction regarding building construction, whereas a mechanical engineer can’t”.

“If s/he is a doctor, if anybody becomes sick, then the knowledge will work-out as immediate action. In case of any successful person including cricketers, you have to be all-rounder”, CM said.

However, CM has remained unedited with his remark saying, “Civil engineers ofcourse can work in better ways with extra knowledge”.
