AGARTALA, April 29 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb's career advice to mechanical engineers 'not to join Civil Service', claiming 'Civil Engineers should join Civil Service', has sparked another fresh controversy across National media. The Chief Minister said mechanical engineers should not join the civil services, only those from civil engineering stream should. as "those in administration need to build a society and civil engineers have that knowledge and can help the government in building constructions". People living outside Tripura, especially youths are frustrated with the new Chief Minister's controversial remarks coming one after one which is helping Tripura to occupy National media headlines everyday but for wrong reasons, under the direction of the Chief Minister himself.

Biplab Deb on Friday while addressing at Civil Service Day-2018, said that Doctors and Engineers can function in better way in Civil Service as they have extra skills.

CM was addressing at Pragna Bhawan on the occasion of Civil Service Day-2018 on Friday.

Describing the importance of being ‘all-rounder’ Biplab Deb said, “If a civil Engineer becomes IAS, s/he can add additional instruction regarding building construction, whereas a mechanical engineer can’t”.

“If s/he is a doctor, if anybody becomes sick, then the knowledge will work-out as immediate action. In case of any successful person including cricketers, you have to be all-rounder”, CM said.

The Chief Minister also claimed that civil service officials are more duty bound than a politicians, as they only can build a better administration and the Chief Minister alone can not.

In the past 50 days 5 controversial statements of Chief Minister Biplab Deb came in media limelight :

  1. Tripura’s tourist spot in Amarpur-Chabimura is better than Amazaon river and if the tourists don’t feel the same after visiting Chabimura, Chief Minister from own pocket will return the trip-expenses. CM also said, “Amazon River is located on Africa” (not South America),
  2. Internet and satellites existed in Mahabharata-Era and via Internet Sanjay was giving live updates of Kurukshetra war to the blind king Dritarashtra,
  3. Before lakhs of years India has Journalists. The “Pandits” of Raj-Durbar were actually journalists, whose work was to inform everything to the king,
  4. Diana Hayden didn’t deserve the Miss-World award as she doesn’t look like an Indian woman and her style is unworthy to represent India. Indian women should be like Goddess Laxmi, Saraswati and Aishwarya Rai is still fine to title as Miss World. Not only this, CM also claimed there was no credit any Indian woman to get the Miss World or Miss Universe awards at all as such beauty-contests are fake and ramp walks are just for “shows”. The awardees names are selected before the competition.
  5. Mechanical engineers should not join Civil Services but Civil Engineers should.
