Agartala, September 3 (TIWN): Opposition MLA Birajit Sinha today proposed pay structure for medical officials in the state.

Speaking in reference to a short duration discussion on shifting of sub-divisional hospitals from Kailashahar and Udaipur, MLA Sinha said that senior health officials and specialists didn’t want to come in the state due to low pay scale in Tripura. He said that health dak bungalows should be set up in each sub-division of the state to ensure a proper stay and operation of health officials in the distant villages during crisis periods and other deputations.

“We have seen doctors staying in clumsy hotels in suburban towns in most sub-divisions during short duration stays. Since the government has got operational power, tourism and rural development dak bungalows, accommodation therein remains subject to arrival of VIPs. Health dak bungalows should be set in all sub-divisions of the state”, he suggested.

Replying a question moved by opposition MLA Diba Chandra Hrangkhawl later today, health and family welfare minister Badal Choudhury said that the government is planning to raise the monthly remuneration of medical interns serving at the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC). Medical Interns are currently given Rs. 8,000 as month remuneration. The amount would be raised in the current financial year itself, the minister said.
