CPI-M again deprives Jiten Chowdhury Party Politburo membership : Manik Sarkar prevents Tripura’s topmost Tribal leader from Politburo

AGARTALA, April 22 (TIWN): Even after sealed by CPI-M State Committee that IPFT led tribal votebanks helped BJP to unseat CPI-M in 2018-election, the Central CPI-M has once again done a major mistake by not introducing Jiten Choudhury as Politburo member. It was accepted in the last state committee meeting, after the poll-defeat, that Tripura CPI-M needs to strengthen its tribal vote banks and at the same a dynamic person is needed to become the CPI-M role model in Tripura. In the poll-result-review-meeting held at Melarmath from April 10 to April 11, where politburo Prakash Karat himself was present, it was granted by the committee that CPI-M needs more base in tribal vote banks.

CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar also accepted that along with local corruptions took place in Tripura in the last decade, the BJP-IPFT alliance was another major cause of winning of BJP. After Manik Sarkar led massive defeat of the CPI-M in Tripura, it was expected that MP Jitendra Choudhury like figures will be highlighted either as the opposition leader inside the state or through a high position in the Central Committee.

But as like prior Party Congress meets, in 22nd Party Congress, CPI-M central leadership deprived Tripura by not inducting important State leaders like Jiten Chaudhury into Politburo especially when CPI-M needs a dynamic personality like him who is much popular and respected among both tribal and Bengali youths.

Many unimportant and nationally unknown leaders like Nilotpal Basu, then much old Biman Basu and others made their entry into coveted 17 member Politburo list. Whereas many nationally important faces of CPI-M like Tripura MP Jiten Chaudhury, who is also member of multiple Parliament Standing Committees was deemed unqualified by CPI-M Kerala Lobby.

Manik Sarkar always wanted to remain as the sole ‘king’ of Tripura CPI-M in Politburo and now inside and outside state he has received a certain position.

Prakash Karat never contested a Parliament or State election in his lifetime, same goes for Sitaram Yechury (Yechury chose Rajya Sabha route to Parliament so that no need to contest Lok Sabha elections). Highly unpopular and aged leaders dominating CPI-M's core politics, so future of the party is none other than complete wipe-out from political map. By not giving chance to younger generations in Politburo, CPI-M's mistakes have been continuing to drive the party towards extinction.
