AGARTALA, April 13 (TIWN): The Tripura unit of Congress on Friday took out a candlelight march at Agartala over the BJP's alleged involvement in the rape incidents in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua and Uttar Pradesh's Unnao and to seek justice for the victims. Talking to TIWN, Tripura Congress President Birjit Sinha said, "I have no word to condemn such brutal incidents. Just I can say, Modi-Hatao, Beti Bachao". "Both the rapes at Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua and Uttar Pradesh's Unnao were led by BJP leaders. Under the Modi what is happening, never happened earlier. A totally lawless era has paralyzed the whole system. Is this called democracy ? If Modi is not gone, then our daughters will not be safe", Sinha told TIWN over phone.

"In whole India Congress are demonstrating today and as a part of it, the Tripura Congress also have  organized the candle march to condemn the rape incidents", he added.

The CBI on Friday began its probe in the rape of a 17-year-old girl in Unnao in Uttar Pradesh by questioning BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, one of the accused, and recording the statement of the victim.Informed sources said that then Unnao Superintendent of Police Neha Pandey and the incumbent district police chief Pushpanjali might also be questioned. The victim tried to set herself ablaze outside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence on April 8, claiming inaction in the rape case. Later that day, her father was picked up by the police, beaten up by Atul Singh and his men, following which he died. The incident has triggered outrage.

On the other side, two BJP ministers who had attended a rally in support of the accused in Kathua rape and murder case on Friday resigned from the Jammu and Kashmir cabinet led by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. Sources in the know of the development said that after the Chief Minister demanded their resignation, Ministers Choudhary Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga submitted their resignation to state BJP chief Satpal Sharma.

As a protest to the incidents, Congress have come in massive protest across the country and this candle march at Agartala was a part of it.
