AGARTALA, April 10 (TIWN): Two Electric Dept staffs were beaten by mob after a staff was electrocuted to death.

The name of the contractor staff who died was Bijoy Das, got electrocuted in Kathalia ESD. He died on way to hospital in Melaghar.

Following the incident mobs had attacked the electric office at there and beaten two of their staffs mercilessly. Most surprising matter was that police were standing during the incident but stayed as mute spectators.

Whereas all are happy that electrical subdivision staff were beaten but nobody other than his family members are facing the loss.

Question were raised by the govt officials who were targeted by mobs, why nobody question on the role of the state govt who failed to provide basic infrastructure for the dept, neither they allowed TSECL employees to work independently.

One TSECL employee said,  “Nobody will know how much problem faced by Engineer for work maintenance change of old ACSR broken pole. We are given responsibility but no power to replace a single pole.We can’t cut public trees for clearing lines, we can’t replace pole position. We have poor infrastructure no vehicle, other state electricity Board service rule is better than its govt. But here we have no service rule we much deprived than GOVT. But none will write on infrastructure our deprivation .Please once compare our Electricity Board with West Bengal picture will be clear and electricity department should be given utmost importance. Unless there be meeting with grass root level engineers real picture of Electricity department won’t be there”.

“State where public beat electrical staff  in front of police, there we can never expect hookline free state”, he alleged.
