TIWN March 28, 2018
AGARTALA, March 28 (TIWN): Whether before Manipur Election, BJP had promised to implement 7th pay commission or not, it has become an issue of debate among both BJP and CPI-M. Whereas Tripura Finance Minister Jishnu Debbarma said, "BJP never promised 7th Pay Commission for Manipur Govt employees", CPI-M Ex Minister Badal Choudhury said, "They promised 7th pay commission". Talking to TIWN in the evening, Badal Choudhury said over phone, "What can be done if they (BJP) forget about their promises now ? The expert committee of BJP will take 3 months for calculation and to complete the whole process it will take 6 months at least. However after 6 months also, if the Govt can implement 7th pay commission, we are happy".
"We also calculated 7th Pay Commission for implementation under the CPI-M Govt. We thought within 900 crores the 7th pay commission can be implemented but the calculation came with a huge figure of Rs. 1400 crores, which was impossible on that time. So whatever we could, we gave to our employees. Now at Centre it's BJP Govt and in state also the same govt. Surprisingly, then also they are facing heavy troubles to manage the fund", Choudhury told TIWN.
Chief Minister Biplab Deb on yesterday in the Assembly said, 7th Pay Commission to be implemented for the govt employees of Tripura and for that an expert committee has been formed. However, how many days the employees have to wait for the implementation, CM didn’t mentioned that, even though it was expected from April month the employees will count their salaries according to 7th pay commission.
After Assembly, state BJP has congratulated the State Govt employees for getting 7th pay commission.
Noteworthy, the delaying 7th Pay commission at Manipur was raised in Tripura Assembly Day-2. While addressing the Assembly, CPI-M MLA Badal Choudhury on March 26 said, “Before the election employees in Tripura were counting, what will be their salaries after BJP makes its govt here. Few were expecting 30,000 of hikes and thus 7th pay commission’s delaying can’t be taken easily. Today at Manipur employees are in strike for 7th pay commission”.
Finance Minister Jishnu Debbarma in reply said, “Manipur BJP never promised about 7th pay commission before election”.
Today Badal Choudhury challenged, "BJP promised at Manipur, but now it's denying".
