Monitoring of food-quality in Tripura JNV hostels and infrastructure is needed

AGARTALA, March 28 (TIWN): Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Tripura left in miserable shape, especially the hostels.

The deep rural areas students living in JNV are the worst sufferers.

Recently based on an allegation against Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, the CBSE school in Uttar Ramchandraghat, Tripura located Laltilla, Khowai TIWN gathered reports from few schools.

One of the worse problem among them is the water crisis, that the student face. Apart from power cut problems, the students are sufferers due to low quality's food.

During board examinations, the food quality increases when teachers and guests from outside visit there, but normally the quality of food are not up to the mark.

Hostel super's negligence have also alleged. The allegation also mentioned in few JNVs that the authorities are unready to consult with the parents and students regarding mess-menus, whereas in the guideline it's written to consult with students about the mess-menu.

According to JNV's guidelines the food  facilities must follow the charts :

1) Morning Milk at 6:50am to 7:00am
2) Breakfast from 8:15am to 8:55am for junior classes & from 8:55am to 9:25am
3) Lunch for juniors at 1:25pm to 2.30
4) Evening milk at 4:10pm to 4:30pm 
5) Dinner for students at 8.00 to 9.00 
6) Keeping in view the student’s hygiene food is prepared with utmost care; weekly mess menu will be prepared by catering assistant who is the main in charge of mess. 

It's also said in the guidelines, Vice Principal, Catering Assistant, mess in charge teachers and students supervise mess function. Monthly mess meetings are conducted and the menu will be discussed and decided in consultation with the students. A committee with the public representative has been formed to inspect the quality and quantity of food served to the children.
