AGARTALA / SONAMURA, March 28 (TIWN): To curb the smuggling trend, the remaining border fencing works to start in full wave soon at Sonamura, an official said. Maintenance works also will be started at border roads across the state's border areas.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb already announced to install CCTV cameras on the borders, which will stop all kinds of smuggling threats.
"It has been checked that over the fencing, the smugglers are throwing phensedyl or drugs for exchange. In this situation, CCTV will be monitoring the activities from the control rooms and the smugglers' face will be identified", said CM.
Neighbor Bangladesh Govt has expressed concerns about smugglings through Tripura's borders. Home Minister Rajnath Singh said he would seek the feasibility of installation of CCTV cameras on the fencing along the India-Bangladesh border for better border management.
Home Ministry also to consider setting up the Central Control and Monitoring Rooms so as to prevent any illegal activities on the border.
The border security and infrastructure along the frontiers must be strengthened to stop infiltration, border crimes and to prevent inimical activities.
