AGARTALA, March 27 (TIWN): 21 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 21 Sector Assam Rifles conducted a workshop cum lecture on women empowerment for the local populace of Thelakung on 27 March. A total no of 465 people including women, children and village elders attended the workshop.

The workshop aimed at enlightening the local populace about the importance of empowering women, it's need and methods to do it. The workshop included opening of Sukanya samridhi accounts for the benifit of the girl child. A total of 325 forms were filled for opening of these accounts. The local bank officials of Gramin Bank and SBI Bank were also part of this noble drive.

This genuine approach by Assam Rifles for facilitating locals towards banking and other facilities was applauded by all.
