BSF Officer's murder case investigation gathers pace after CPI-M’s exit : Tripura Police to submit first Chargesheet against 8 accused by next month

AGARTALA, March 25 (TIWN):Anti-National CPI-M’s departure finally unearthing State Police’s caliber in tackling crimes. BSF Officer Dipak Kumar Mandal's murder case, which is the darkest chapter of Tripura's history, exposed rampant cattle smuggling activities via Sonamura border of Tripura. But after the murder incident of BSF Deputy commandant oof 145-Bn on November-2017, the case had almost dumped under files under the Left Govt's regime. But with the change in the administration, police dept relived with a space from political interference and able to take role as an independent institution. Since 6 months, the chargesheet of Dipak Kumar Mandal was pending , but the I/O of the case SI Srikanta Chakraborty said that by next month the chargesheet will be submitted whereas total 8 persons have been arrested so far. But 5 out of them got bail whereas 3 more is in jail custody. But this will be the first chargesheet that Tripura Police is submitting in the case.

The accused who have been in police's grip : 1) Mamun Mia (in bail), 2) Russel Mia (in bail), 3) Shahjahan (in bail), 4) Salman (In Jail Custody), 5) Jamal (in Jail Custody), 6) Sajjad (in Jail Custody), 7) Imran Hossain (in bail), 8) Athan (in bail).

BSF 145 Bn Deputy Commandant Dipak Kumar Mandal was attacked on Oct 16, by around 25 cattle smugglers at Indo-Bnagla border near Kalapania of Sonamura. Immediately from Tripura's first referral hospital GB, Mandal was referred to Kolkata based Medica hospital, but after four days og suffering in deep coma, Mandal passed away on yesterday evening. However, amidst 25 accused only 2 persons' arrest has been quite unsatisfactory when per the the smugglers are smuggling hundreds of cattle via Indo-Bangla border. Earlier talking to TIWN, SP Sepahijala Sudipta Das said ‘Atleast 20 25 cattle smugglers attacked the Deputy Commandant of BSF Dipak Kumar Mandal.

Around 15 cattle they had been smuggling  via NEEPCO (Monarchak) area. When BSF tried to stop them, they smugglers attacked upon BSF and amidst the attacking hours the BSF commandant was injured seriously’.

‘The driver Mamun Mia was earlier arrested and yesterday another Russel Mia was arrested.

BSF Deputy Commandant of 145 Btn Dipak Kumar Mandal was  injured seriously at Kalapania area of Sonamura while counterattacking smugglers at there but now fighting with life at Kolkata based Hospital. The incident took place at around 2 AM of Sunday night at Kalapania’sShalkhet area in front of Forest Dept Official. 3 round of shooting was informed by the locals of Kalapania, but for whole investigation BSF was eyeing for Dipak Mandal's recovery but that could not be possible as Cattle smugglers had slayed him forever.

Deepak Kumar Mandal was the second-in-command rank officer in the BSF's 145th battalion.

On that time Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy condemning the attack said,  “God rest his soul,Om Shanti. Died in the service of the motherland,at the hands of cattle smugglers".

SI Srikanta Chakraborty also remarked positive that the arrested accused persons are smugglers. The police official also mentioned, border fencing works at Sonmaura have got momentum.
