AGARTALA, March 24 (TIWN): Tripura Health Minister Sudip Barman on World Tuberculosis Day 2018 said, "Govt is India is aiming to free the country from Tuberculosis within 2025. Central Govt is also spending huge funds for that". Barman was addressing in a NHM conducted programme on World Tuberculosis Day at NHM Office in Agartala Colonel Chowmuhani. The Minister mentioned, "This particular disease would be uprooted from the country shortly. This is a challenge for all of us to make our country TB disease free, when our Govt is spending huge funds to eradicate such a dangerous disease". "Thus this should be our one of the major targets to fulfill the vision of Govt of India", he said. The Minister also asked all Health Dept officials to do their duties fully, with full precautions. "I want to request all the officials, whatever work has been given to you, you will fulfill them with your best efforts", he said.

"Ofcourse it's an airborne disease and it can affect you too. But you know better than me how to take precautions to restrict the disease", Barman said.

World Tuberculosis Day, observed on March 24 each year, is designed to build public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis and efforts to eliminate the disease.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted, "Government of India is working in mission mode to make India TB-free. While the world has set a target of 2030 for TB elimination, we in India want to become TB-free by 2025!"
