SONAMURA, March 16 (TIWN): In a joint raid led by state Forest Dept and BSF-145 Bn, huge numbers of woods along with wood cutting machines were recovered at Sonamura today.

The worth of the seized items would not be less than Rs. 2 lakhs. At the same time, a truck was seized which was carrying sands illegally.

According to the report, at Jolaibari's Khedabari area located forest illegal tree-cutting business were continuing since decades.

Such illegally cut woods were also using for smuggling in exchange of lakhs of benefits.

However, today even though the machines and woods were recovered but the culprits managed to escape from the spot.

In the raid Forest Dept personnel were led by SDFO Atanu Chakraborty, whereas BSF jawans were guided by commandant Mujimmal.
