SONAMURA / DHANPUR, March 16 (TIWN): Even though Tripura police arrested 3 persons in ganja(marijuana) trafficking activities, but the seized ganjas were cultivated on Tripura’s soil. Fighting against such illegal activities and cattle smuggling, BSF Officer Dipak Mandal had died in the last year at Sonamura. Sonamura, Boxonagara-----the places which have become narcotic-den following the 'intentional' negligence of CPI-M Govt, till day known as the 'ganja-smuggling-corridor'. But surprisingly, even after the presence of leaders like Sahid Chowdhury, Manik Sarkar in those areas, the murder case of BSF Dipak Mandal remained pending, neither any proper chargesheet against the accused were placed. After 20 years of a constant ruling as the Chief Minister of Tripura in 25 years of CPI-M's empire in this Northeast hilly state, nobody knows about Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's own constituency which is Dhanpur. Dhanpur has no special quality except smuggling of cattle and ganja, phensedyl via India-Bangaldesh border as the people there live are maximum at below poverty line
The BSF Officer murder case just remained a mystery, even though if Tripura Govt orders for proper investigation then around 30 smugglers can be arrested.
The BSF Officer’s murder took place not at the Indo-Bangla border, but it was done in much populated area controlled by Police of Sonamura. The incident took place in CM's constituency zone, very near to Dhanpur which is not controlled by BSF. Ganja production has become a free business here, without any control.
Above half of the total cattle smugglings are done through Tripura’s Sonamura border.
In 2015 also a BSF was killed at Akhaura border but the left front govt supported the smugglers only.
Even Bangladesh Govt has expressed concerned about increasing narcotic business via Tripura borders, which is spoiling the young generation of Bangladesh.
