AGARTALA, Feb 28 (TIWN) : 3 truck loaded firecrackers were seized from a godown today with the initiative of West Police under the observation of West DM.

As a part of special drive ahead of vote-counting and Holi, police held the raid, said West SP Abhijit Saptarshi.

“Police after getting information by secret sources have raided the godown, but after arriving it has seen that unexpected numbers firecrackers have been  illegally stored here", said SP.

“The joint drive was taken place with the initiative of District Administration, AMC in front of witnesses and media. We were informed  about the illegal storage of the firecrackers but it has been unearthed that 2-3 trucks loaded fire crackers have been stored here”, said SP.

“This is illegal storage and also proper case will also be filed against it”, he added.

However the exact worth of the seized items couldn’t be declared at the moment without investigation.

Police have also started inquiry to find out the culprit.
