Tripura's 6 polling stations set for Re-polling : Polling personnel left for destinations : Polls to maintain 100% webcasting, double security

TELIAMURA / SONAMURA / SAMBROOM/ AGARTALA, Feb 25 (TIWN): Polling personnel have left for their destinations from the SDM offices in 5 subdivisions of Tripura, aiming to conduct a re-poll in 6 polling stations. At Teliamura, where due to EVM machines' improper post-poll placement the re-poll has been ordered, today the polling officials have left from the SDM Office with EVM machines to conduct a fresh election. In other sub-divisions also the preparation on peak and the Election Commission is not leaving any scope for loopholes.The Election commission has arranged heavy securities during the poll hours and a meeting immediately after the re-poll announcement was done among security personnel and the CEO.The 6 poll-stations are : 22-Sonamura, 23-Dhanpur, 28-Teliamura, 40-Sabroom,41-Ampinagar, 54-Kadamtala-Kurti, where the election commission has ordered re-polling.

 CEO Sriram Taranikanti said, 'This time the webcasting will be more tightly managed as we have enough numbers of machines with us. The webcasting will be done inside the polling stations as well as outside the polling stations towards the queues. The webcasting organizes self-discipline and this time Tripura has witnessed heavy peaceful voting. We believe that Tripura has demonstrated how to conduct a Peaceful-Voting and the way we have conducted voting, we hope the entire country would follow this".

"There will be around 5600 voters who will be casting their votes by tomorrow in during re-poll. The voters numbers represents 0.2 of our total voters approximate. The time schedule will be strictly followed from 7 AM to 4 PM for the voting time of the voters", said Taranikanti.

Section 144 in each places has been imposed to ensure free and fair election and campaigning also will be restricted. The 6 polling centres where the election will be held, EC has kept strict observations. The 6 poll-stations are : 22-Sonamura, 23-Dhanpur, 28-Teliamura, 40-Sabroom,41-Ampinagar, 54-Kadamtala-Kurti, where the election commission has ordered re-polling. Election Commission Secretary Arvind Anand ordered to conduct re-polls in 6 poll-stations of 6 constituencies of Tripura on February 26, i.e. on Monday.

In a letter on yesterday night, Arvind Anand Secretary of Chief Election Commission of India told CEO of Tripura , "I am directed to state that on the reports submitted and after taking all material circumstances into account, the Commission hereby the Commission here declares under Sub-Section 2 of Under Section 58 of the representation of the people's act 1951 that the poll taken on 18th February, 2018..... for taking a fresh poll at the said polling stations in accordance with the commission's instructions contained in chapter 13 of Hand Books for returning officers".

When politicians delivered various kinds of statements alleging high-negligence of the Election Commission, in reply via media, Tripura CEO said, "Let's not go for any statement of anybody. 6 polling stations are very less in numbers and nothing is abnormal in this re-poll. Let's have the poll first and discuss such issues later".
