AGARTALA, August 27 (TIWN): Agartala Municipal Corporation is going to spend 4 crore rupees under Tripura Urban Employment Programme (TUEP) for the upcoming Durga Puja. Executive Engineer of Central Zone Arun Roy said to tripurainfoway.

Speaking to TIWN Mr. Roy told that in the pre-Puja session AMC has taken major steps to keep the city clean under TUEP. In connection with this, the Council will spend 4 crore rupees for the undergoing project. Already 10 mandage work was given to the workers. All the job card holders will get sufficient amount of work. Plans were taken to increase the no of days and mandage work- Mr. Roy further added. Every work is done under Mandage Generation Programme.

In the mean time Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Prafullajit Sinha told that the first and foremost duty of Municipal Corporation is to keep the city beautiful and clean. Describing the Pura Nigam as a family he appealed to the Safai workers to make the city clean and beautiful before ensuing Durga puja.

Referring to the appreciation by Guwahati Nagar Nigam and Chennai and Mumbai Municipal Corporation, he said, they would be keen to know how the AMC keeps the city clean regularly.

 On the other hand, Deputy Mayor said that, ‘ it is the tedious  work by the  AMC workers that has earned the AMC a name throughout the nation. He advised the workers to consider the city as their own home and keep up the good work.
