AGARTALA, Feb 7 (TIWN): Delivering a major blow to CPI-M's allegation that one VVPAT machine was found manipulated in favour of BJP's vote banks, Tripura CEO Sriram Taranikanti today calling media said, "It's impossible to hack VVAPT or EVM machines. Never it happened earlier anywhere in India". This press conference was called in the mid-session of election by Tripura Electoral Officers after the ruling party CPI-M on yesterday alleged that somewhere in Tripura on February 3 it was seen that VVPAT machines are being hacked and all votes are going to Lotus. Rubbishing the claims of CPI-M, Taranikanti said, "EVMs are the most secured and trusted devise introduced in India for the fair means of Election. Ofcourse we will check the alleged issue but it's out of question that VVPAT or EVM machines can be hacked. Moreover, no such incident happened in Tripura as a political party recently has alleged".
On yesterday evening, CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar had called media alleging VVPATs are faulty.
The CPI-M also has lodged complaint with Election Commission alleging that the "VVPATs are faulty", demanded proper verification of the matter.
Addressing media Bijan Dhar said, “Across Tripura, as per election commission’s instruction VVPAT trainings are going on. In at 41-Ampinagar 47-No booth (SB School, West Malbasa) on last 3rd February the VVPAT trainers found the machine was faulty and maximum votes are going for BJP. People at there have come in massive protest and the machine was replaced”.
This complaint of CPI-M generated tension among the public when Assembly Election is only 11 days left.
But today Election Commission has fully rejected the claim of CPI-M saying, "It's totally impossible incident that the party is alleged about".
