AGARTALA, Feb 5 (TIWN): "Northeast part of India has highly strategic importance in the map of India as all sides of the zone is surrounded by Bangladesh", said Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
"Earlier, it was only Look-East policy, but now it has changed to Act East Policy under the Modi Govt as he realized that only looking at east is not enough, but actions for Northeast are most important aspects", said the Union Minister.
Rajnath Singh was addressing at Agartala rallies during his two day visit in Tripura and said that being tied up with Northeast development under Act-East-Policy's motive, the Modi Govt has taken actions to upgrade Northeast roadways to railways as well as airways.
Modi Govt gave Tripura with Tripura Sundari Express, Rajdhani Express and soon Tripura will get Trans-Asian Railway Network and will get a train from Agartala to Kolkata via Dhaka.
