AGARTALA, Feb 3 (TIWN): 75 years old, Tripura's former Congress Chief Minister Samir Barman who had submitted nomination paper as an Independent candidate on January 31 from Bishalgarh constituency, has withdrawn nomination today.
Samir Barma was the Chief Minister of Tripura from 19.2.92 to 10.3.93 as a member of the Indian National Congress.
Within his 1 year of Chief Ministry, the law and order was collapsed in Tripura so much that Central Govt had to announce President's rule.
In 1993 CPI-M came in power, when people mass-rejected the Congress party due to the collapsed law and order of Tripura under Samir Barman.
