UDAIPUR, August 26 (TIWN): Allegations were raised against the SDM and a few officials of district office for allegedly involved in the filling up and selling water bodies that belong to royal dynasty without the permission of higher authorities.
A huge part of a water body at Fultangi of ward no. 9 under Udaipur Municipal Council was filled up without permission and prepared for sale. The people of the area reported the issue for several times to Udaipur SDM, but in vain. The owner of the water body already sought the permission from SDM to fill it up and sell it. At present, the owner illegally filled up a particular part and is trying to sell it. Tehsilder of SDM office and a few employees is allegedly involved with the illegal activity.
It is worthy to mention here that the SDM gave the Tehsilder the responsibility to investigate the illegal filling of water body.
Such illegal activities are going on especially in the municipal council’s ward no. 9, 11, 12,14,16,19 and others. It was alleged that a section of land mafias are involved with the activities.
On the other hand, the Sukhsagar Lake is getting filled up every day without permission. Hence, a little rainfall in Udaipur causes waterlog that the people over there never witnessed. The Sukhsagar Lake earlier used to be the largest land of the previous South district.
Resentment brewed among the common people over the illegal filling up of water body belonging to one member have started filling up of water body belonging to one member of Udaipur Municipal Council. Allegations were raised that soon after going to a higher designation, the member have started filling up water bodies.
The common people sought the help of DM and SDM over the filling up and planning to sell the water bodies belonging to royal dynasty.
