AGARTALA, Jan 26 (TIWN): Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy on 69th Republic Day replieed to his criticizers, who claimed that there is no necessity of a Governor in a state. Addressing at Agartala Assam Rifles ground, Roy said, "Every year Governor speaks on the developmental works done by the state govt, but as you know already Election has been declared and model code of conduct have been implemented, so I would like to stress upon few of my personal experiences with Tripura today", said Governor."But now, what would be the duty of a Governor regarding this there are various opinions (in Bengali he said Nana-Munir-Nana-Mat). Few people think that Governor's post is totally unnecessary and in democracy we have to equally value their opinions too", Roy said."But in reality Governor is like a Diesel Generator, works when the Power is temporarily disrupted", added Roy.

"In the same way, if the elected CM is unable to work with any reason, then Governor has to take responsibility".

Signifying the Republic Day, Governor said, "In the same day of year 1950, Indian constitution came in action, which was written on 1949's November 26 led India a democratic country, which ruled out equality. Later, through 42nd Constitutional modification, we made our constitution as a secular country. Let's remember all the freedom fighters and great persons of nation who made India.", said Governor.

"In our tradition, there is no mention of any hatred, jealousy. Our constitution is not biased in any religion, cast, colour and creed. Peace is an intimate part of our country. India's development means the development of our whole country and without Northeast country can not develop and that's why a special focus has been given in this region", said the Governor.

However, Governor didn't attack the State Govt directly much, rather he criticized the critics, who said 'A Governor has no role to play in a state'.
