AGARTALA, August 25 (TIWN): The malaria outbreak that ravaged distant tribal hamlets of Tripura for the past three months was largely contained, an official communiqué from the Department of Health and Family Welfare said later this evening.
No fresh report of death from malaria came from anywhere in the state. The situation, which went out of control in May, June and July, considerably improved with tireless efforts of medical teams, with the help of NGOs, volunteers and defense personnel, the communiqué stated.
The department kept on organizing health camps regularly in various parts of the state. A total of 45 health camps were organized today in the entire state. Altogether 7, 129 health camps were organized since June 13 till date.
While blood test conducted today, total 156 patients were diagnosed contacted with fresh malaria parasites out of 1949 fever patients. Around 299 fever patients were admitted in the health centers. Out of 299 patients, 60 were diagnosed with malaria parasite.
A total of 2,97,718 fever patients underwent treatment in health camps and at health centers and out of them, 50,323 patients were tested positive for malaria. No patient was diagnosed to have been freshly infected with Japanese Encephalitis and dengue today.
