Chandigarh, Nov 28 : Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Tuesday issued orders terminating the service of the principal of a government girls’ school in Jind district who is facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against students. The orders were issued following an investigation report submitted by the Sub Divisional Magistrate who inquired into the allegations.
A government spokesperson said the action has been taken under the powers conferred upon by virtue of Article 311 (b) of the Constitution. “The report sent by the Sub Divisional Magistrate highlighted statements from several students against the principal’s misconduct. Subsequently, considering the seriousness of the case and the allegations against the principal, this action has been taken,” the official said.
“The accused principal…was already arrested by the police, and a woman principal was appointed at the respective school, along with the appointment of 16 new staff members,” the spokesperson added. The accused, aged 56, was arrested on November 4 and is currently lodged at Jind jail in judicial custody.
