BHOPAL, Oct 8 : A woman has allegedly been brutalized with an iron rod and run over by a tractor over a petty dispute in MP's Sidhi district. She is in ICU in a critical condition.
Police had initially registered a case of attempted murder but after the woman's kin came forward with gruesome details of torture, police are mulling adding other charges as well.
The incident took place at a village around 15km from the district headquarters late Friday evening.
"Both the families are locked in a property dispute. The family of the accused had gone to cultivate the disputed farm, and the victim went to stop them when they tried to mow her down with a tractor. A case was registered the same night and five suspects, including prime accused Anil Jaiswal, were arrested," Jamodi police station in charge Pawan Singh told TOI, adding that a court remanded them in jail on Saturday. "The family had not said anything earlier regarding the brutalization of the woman. She has serious injuries and we registered a case of attempted murder. Now that they have told us she was brutalized, we will take appropriate legal action on the basis of medical reports," Singh said.
