Thiruvananthapuram, July 6 (TIWN) In the wake of Kerala minister's controversial remark on the Constitution, state Assembly Speaker M.B. Rajesh on Wednesday wound up the day's session in flat eight minutes.
Despite the three MLAs being on an "indefinite satyagraha", the opposition claimed that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has refused to intervene to discuss and resolve the issue. Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala later told reporters that the government's stand was "unfortunate". Holding banners and placards in front of the podium of Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan, UDF members raised slogans as the House assembled for Question Hour. The speaker kept asking the members to return to their seats. When they refused, he said the MLAs were crossing all limits by continuing the protest and adjourned the House. The session, which began on November 26, comes to a close on December 13. BJP leader C K Padmanabhan has been on a hunger strike for three days in front of the Secretariat building, demanding lifting of prohibitory orders at Sabarimala.
