Jammu, March 9 (TIWN) One person was killed and 14 injured in an IED blast in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district on Wednesday in Wednesday, police said.

The explosion happened in the afternoon and created fear in the area. The injured were taken to the hospital for medical aid.  The condition of some of the injured is stated to be critical but stable.  Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Mukesh Singh said that preliminary investigations suggest that the explosion was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).  Talking to reporters at the site of Slathia Chowk, the site of the explosion, Singh said that initial probe has revealed that it was an IED blast, however its impact wasn't much.  Udhampur is 50 km from Jammu city on Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
