New Delhi, Jan 18 (TIWN) Continuing a declining trend for fifth day in a row, Delhi on Tuesday recorded 11,684 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours, but there were 38 new deaths against 24 the day before.
The number of infections in the national capital has seen a marked decline over the last few days. On Monday, the city registered 12,587 cases, on Sunday it was 18,286, on Saturday the figure was 20,718 while on Friday it was 24,383.
Manindra Agrawal, Professor of IIT Kanpur, said today that the third wave of COVID-19, driven by the Omicron strain, has reached its peak in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata as predicted by IIT's Sutra model. According to government data, number of active cases in the city stands at 78,112, including 63,432 patients are in home isolation. The recovery rate stands at 94.02 per cent.
