New Delhi, Jan 18 (TIWN) The Supreme Court on Tuesday continued to grill the Maharashtra government on the resolution passed by the state Assembly on July 5, 2021 to suspend 12 BJP MLAs for a period of one year for their alleged misconduct and misbehaviour in the House.
The Supreme Court slammed the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly speaker for suspending 12 BJP MLAs from the House. The apex court called the decision a 'danger to democracy' and said that it is 'irrational.' The apex court was hearing the matter for the suspension of 12 BJP MLAs for a full year. Last week, the same Supreme Court bench had called the decision 'worse than expulsion and beyond permissible limits.' Today, the bench posed serious questions from the State Government's lawyer regarding the rationality of the suspension beyond the period of the session. The bench said that 'there should be some purpose of the suspension.' Keep watching to know more!
