Bhopal, Sep 5 (TIWN) Several women and children of a locality near Hoshangabad Road in Bhopal, adopted a novel way to draw the attention of the government to the potholed roads in the area. They performed a catwalk on the potholed roads and made the video viral on the social media.
In a mock outdoor fashion show, the women of Danish Nagar did a catwalk with broken, pothole-laden roads as their runway. Dressed in sarees and navigating their way through waterlogged potholes, the women made sure their demands for road repair were heard loud and clear. While doing the catwalk on the muddy and pockmarked streets, the women also demanded that the colony should be handed over to the municipal corporation, otherwise all residents would stop paying property tax. Residents of Danish Nagar told India Today that they have raised complaints about the poor condition of roads at all levels, but the problem is yet to be resolved. “Because of the huge potholes on the roads, accidents are happening every day. Yet the roads are not being repaired. What are we paying taxes for?” a resident told India Today. Due to incessant rains, roads in many areas of Bhopal have been damaged, resulting in potholes and waterlogging.
