AGARTALA, June 5 (TIWN): Lack of income sources forcing state’s people to become involved with illegal business, drug trafficking to illegal trading are rampantly increasing in the state. Two drums of cannabis were recovered by Belonia police from a house last night in North Kalabaria area.
The on-duty dedicated police officers while on patrolling received secret news on Friday night that cannabis was stored in a house in the North Kalabaria area, Belonia. Upon receiving the news, a large police force led by Belonia SDPO, Soumya Debabarma and Belonia PS OC, SI Sriti kanta Bardhan rushed to the house of Ratan Pal, a resident of North Kalabaria area.
After searching for some time two drums filled with cannabis were recovered from Ratan Pal’s house, reportedly both the drums were found underground. The total weight of the two drums is 20 kg. Sources said Ratan Pal has newly started cannabis business and brought the cannabis to home from the western hills of Belonia for business purposes and stockpiling it at his home. Accused Ratan Pal fled away from the house on hearing of the police raid, as there were no people in the house. Police seize illegally stockpiled cannabis but fail to apprehend the drug trafficker from the scene.
