Guwahati/Kohima/Agartala, May 12 (TIWN) The Nagaland government has clamped total lockdown across the state for eight days while Assam and the other six northeastern states extended the timings of curfew and imposed other restrictions to curb the alarming spread of Covid, officials said on Wednesday.
The decision of clamping lockdown was taken by the high-powered committee on COVID-19 during a meeting held at Nagaland Chief Minister’s residence in Kohima on Tuesday. “The existing restrictions will continue till the total lockdown is in place,” said a statement from the HPC on COVID-19. “During the lockdown period, Health & Family welfare department may pursue aggressive testing, utilising the full testing capacity of the COVID-19 laboratories,” the statement added. The Nagaland Government will release a fresh set of SOPs for the lockdown period soon.
