Kolkata, Oct 13 (TIWN) In 2009, she had promised to transform Kolkata into London and she did mention that in the Trinamool Congress' 2009 Lok Sabha election manifesto. At the time, she was in the opposition. Her party had stormed to power in West Bengal in 2011 and Mamata Banerjee became Chief Minister of the state.
The buses, the officials added, were being introduced to boost tourism and make the Durga Puja experience memorable for tourists. According to the government, the vehicles are meant to be used for hop-on and hop-off bus tours for those who want to go sightseeing, and are not meant for public transport.
