AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, April 17 (TIWN): Congress leader Gopal Roy on Friday has requested the Govt of Tripura to give Rs. 5,000 to poor.
Addressing media, Gopal Roy said that only rice can not mitigate the crisis of the people.
“Although Govt is saying that various helps are being given to people but the reality is--- poor people, daily workers, including brick industry workers are in massive sufferings. Govt must ensure essential commodities for them and that’s why Rs. 5,000 should be given to each poor”, said Roy referring retired Govt employee Joy Krishna Roy who was brutally beaten by police.
He further criticized the Police Dept saying, although police are doing a great job, but the cruelty against people should be brought under control. Police is not to hospitalize anyone.
He also demanded an employment generation scheme to save livelihood.
Nevertheless, Gopal Roy requested people to follow lockdown as it is the directives came from Central Govt.
